On our critical thinking assessment quiz, I scored 25/30.
Critical thinking is the process of analyzing information in an un-biased and objective way, looking for facts and asking questions that lead to evidence or proof. Critical thinking is important because it is easy for some to assume or have judgments based on biases. Being a critical thinker includes asking questions, evaluating situations, and organizing those facts to base a decision or idea.
I believe that Bill Gates is a critical thinker. He is a self-made billionaire, being the co-creator and CEO of Microsoft. After leaving Microsoft, he continued to be a leader in philanthropy and is an advocate for the environment and creating sustainable energy. He has also been active in funding and creating vaccines for Covid-19. I think that he is a critical thinker because he thinks outside of himself to global issues, relying on statistics and technology, and finding solutions for all.

Hi Tiffany,
We have similar thoughts about critical thinking. What jumps out at me is the impact our beliefs, traditions and biases impact how we think. If you add a layer of emotion/stress on top of that and you have a pretty crowded situation. Organizing the facts is crucial.

As we go on, you may realize that you held biases that you weren't aware of. This is all part of going deeper in understanding ourselves and being able to understand others better. Biases can be a hindrance but they aren't necessarily bad; we all have them. The key is: AWARENESS of said biases. We will be exploring more of that in our classes.
