• What was your Plan?
To provide feedback on a training video that a colleague developed. She is new to the organization and was unsure of the requirements. The plan was to give her suggestions for improvement but also encourage her and provide positive reimbursement to help her settle into her role.
• What did you Do?
I organized a zoom call with her and provided feedback on the things that were really great. For example, the flow of her training, her voice over was excellent and she made it look very professional. I also offered practical suggestions, mainly around a few content gaps.
• What did you Study and learn from your test?
She was really grateful for the feedback and having me take the time to review the training and offer suggestions. She also really valued the positive feedback. I told her I’m going to borrow some of her ideas and incorporate into my work, which she really loved to hear. Her body language and tone perked up.
• What is your next Act?
Offer more people a sounding-board and feedback opportunities. Most people like and value feedback so letting them know I’m available will hopefully help them feel more connected to their job and the organization as a whole. With many of my peers working remotely, I think it’s especially important to offer encouragement, feedback and support. But also for me to seek more feedback. I’ll now be going back to this person and ask her to review my work and provide me with feedback.
