What is an area that you would like to influence in your day-to-day work environment?
A: A pattern that I have picked up since I started my career in IT is that a lot of IT techs lack the critical thinking skills to innovate while troubleshooting. Our IT environment here at The Fedcap Group is very unique in how it is structured due to how The Fedcap Group is structured. There aren't universal standards because each program has its own budget and IT needs where as in other companies it would generally standardized. This creates the need for unique solutions in our day-to-day work and training on critical thinking and troubleshooting could go a long way to improving our efficiency overall.
How might you influence it?
A: I could help to create an in-house training course to teach critical thinking and how it can be used while troubleshooting. I could utilize examples from past problems that I have solved and even create hypotheticals that can be mused on by the class. We also have APEX coming in with IT training and we could possibly utilize them as a foundation to start this.
What would you do and how would you integrate your learning from the LA in clear and obvious ways?
A: I would honestly work to incorporate all of the models throughout the LA this year. I would use go through the critical thinking process that we learned and utilize tools such as PDSA to test changes that are made as we flesh out the training program. Concepts for creating a can do attitude can go a long way here as well.
