What is an area that you would like to influence in your day-to-day work environment?
An area I would like to influence in my work environment is building a more cohesive environment of teamwork. We are a team, yes, and we often jump in and help others out, but I would like to integrate more of a team approach to the case management activities we provide. My thoughts are that this would hopefully lead to increasing skills of staff, increasing efficiency, increasing satisfaction with the work, decreasing staff turnover, and decreasing “silos” in the office.
How might you influence it?
I think my intentions can be influenced by possibly changing some of the structural components of my department, by changing and adding different topic scopes to meetings, by slowly changing some mindsets of older more established case managers, and by establishing and reinforcing a more can-do culture.
What would you do and how would you integrate your learning from the LA in clear and obvious ways?
The obvious answer, to me, would be to start with influencing a more positive can-do culture in conjunction with using critical thinking and influential communication as a starting point to creating more of a formalized plan to implement. The formalized plan/project would most certainly call for diving into all the previous modules, examining the modules through a specific lens, stretching and innovating, all the while, creating a plan with successful intentions.
