B. Salesforce and Pipeline:
Salesforce: How do we use it as a tool?
A: Salesforce is an application that is used to develop business develop by tracking patterns in spending. It relies on users uploading contract/spending so the database can be built and patterns can be ascertained.
What is a "pipeline" and how might it impact your work?
A: The pipeline consists of all of the contracts coming in and out Fedcap. Contracts drive our business and they need to be tracked extensively. This is all tracked within the pipeline; it keeps tabs on things such as executed contracts, commitments, submissions, and bids lost. Information like this helps to define how Fedcap is doing performance wise in terms of contracts and how we deal with them. This pipeline also helps to fuel tools such as Salesforce.
What did the pipeline report tell you?
A: The one thing that really stuck out for me was how well we are doing internationally. Our international partners were 78% of the pipeline as of 3/31/2021 and that is pretty impressive. Our domestic numbers look pretty consistent with the pick up Apex school adding to the domestic pipeline for 2021.
C. Metrics That Matter:
What surprised you?
A: I wasn't too surprised by the report as I was familiar with MTM before hand and I personally look at the reports when they posted. I think it's important to understand the types of populations that we serve and how we are faring in terms of supporting them.
What trends do you see? Are there any trends that cause you concern?
A: It's interesting to see a drop in employees overall but it makes sense when you think about how Fedcap operates when it comes to our contracts. The pandemic coming to end should bring in more contract opportunities as everything is starting to open back up. I think it is also interesting to see an increase in our social media activity and how much interesting the CEO's blogs jumped as well.
How will you use MTM in your own work?
A: MTM doesn't offer much for my day-to-day work as we track our own metrics that are relevant to our work. I use it personally to stay on top of what is going on in Fedcap and stay apprised to the moves Fedcap is planning to make moving forward.
