1. In considering the overall culture in your area, what are the elements that you believe underscore a positive, can-do culture?
I believe that Vision and people are the most important elements that underly a can-do culture. Leadership must create a vision that then allows the people to solve the issues that exist. We took this approach during Covid. Our Executive Director, Craig Stenning set the vision that we would continue to operate during Covid allowing me the flexibility to create the Double Impact Initiative that allowed us to continue to operate during Covid and to increase both participation and revenues.
2. What strengths do you bring as a leader that will specifically fortify a can-do culture in your area? Please give an example.
I believe my positive attitude is a major contributor the can-do attitude I have. Life has presented some significant challenges to me both with my health and with legal difficulties. I discovered that redirecting negative emotions can lead to a good problem-solving approach
3. How do you go about influencing others (in any area of your life)? What tactics do you use to influence behavior or actions of others?
I believe in the ultimate goodness of people. I do not believe that people cannot do better if they are encouraged and given the proper training and tools. I use active listening and personal encouragement to work with both staff and participants. These approaches cross over to my personal life. I have a deep personal faith that Hashem (G-d) does not present us with more in challenges then we can handle. I do not expect it to be a smooth journey. There are challenges and barriers, but they are not insurmountable
