What struck you most about the readings and video? Were there things with which you disagreed?
In the video, James Brooks talked about using everyone’s abilities to the fullest extent. I certainly agree that we as leaders need to help those around us grow and stretch to reach their full potential. I have always considered bringing out the best in employees and others around me as one of my strengths. But I need to consider more on how I can grow and reach my full potential.
I also really enjoyed the article “How Leaders Overcome Their Comfort Zone”. I definitely see where I tend to stay within my comfort zone in many areas of my life due to “Competence Challenge”. I know I fear doing things incorrectly and struggle with my failures—both personally and professionally.
What do you want to get out of your STRETCH ASSIGNMENT? Reflecting back on your 360 results, your current leadership skills and areas where you need to learn and grow, what kind of stretch assignment will serve you best?
My 360 Feedback results suggested that I should seek feedback from and provide feedback to my peers on a more consistent basis and to be more vocal and present during our team meetings. This would better show off my knowledge and confidence in my skills and ability. I want to be viewed as not just a manager—but as a leader. I am not sure at this point--what my stretch assignment will be.

Ginny, I have been impressed with your openness to feedback and your willingness to take it and run. I think that mindset will help you reach your goals. I look forward to seeing what you decide for your assignment!
