• Do you consider yourself innovative? Why? Why not? On a scale of 1-10, I think I’m a 5. According to the definition: “innovation involves bringing a new idea into practical effect” I believe that through my role I have come with new ideas that I put into practice. For example, I developed an organizational wide scavenger hunt as part of a learning and development roll-out. People were bored and disengaged with current training and we needed to explore new ways of delivering. I incorporated technology, games, exercise and data that linked to organizational knowledge awareness and competency development. However, I think I can get better at implementing new ideas. Sometimes I come up with new ideas but don’t follow through. I don’t always know where or how to start.
• What is one thing that stood out for you about Innovation from the article(s) and video that you had not considered before? The dots was a good way to look a innovation. It’s something I’ll consider in the future. I really loved the google article. Especially the ‘Never fail to fail’ – “The thing is, people remember your hits more than your misses. It’s okay to fail as long as you learn from your mistakes and correct them fast”. I’m a big fan of having ‘learning moments’. It’s important to try new things and ask questions like ‘Why didn’t this work? What did I learn from it? How can I improve it? What were the hurdles? Who can help me do this better?’
