$5M AWARDED TO FEDCAP GROUP TO SERVICE 5000 VETERANS SEEKING EMPLOYMENT IN FLORIDA
30 COMMUNITY BASED AGENCIES IN FLORIDA WILL HAVE OPPORTUNITY TO JOIN FORCES WITH GLOBAL COMPANY KNOWN AS THE FEDCAP GROUP TO SERVICE 5000 VETERANS ANNUALLY.
The contract will employ 500 staff. The contract is funded in a joint partnership between the state of Florida and the Veteran’s Administration
Florida’s population of 1.5 million veterans have a 5% unemployment rate almost identical to the 5.3% unemployment rate across the United States. Several initiatives were made to help struggling veterans eliminate barriers to economic development and well-being.
The $5M to serve 5K is a major initiative to address the 5.0 % unemployment rate among Florida Veterans.
“You can never have enough help,” says Barry, who currently mentors' other veterans seeking to transition from military to civilian life. “When I finished my service, I came back to a pandemic, tons of debt and no employment prospects. Somehow, FEDCAP found a way to still service veterans by seeing the trends and adjusting their services accordingly. Now that FEDCAP has given hope to me, I’m looking to share that hope with my brothers and sisters [i.e., fellow veterans] in Florida.” Barry will be stationed in Jacksonville, FL to assist with connecting FEDCAP with community organizations in South Florida.
This grant opens the door for the FEDCAP GROUP to grant veterans living in Florida access to the services they need and deserve through a partnership between FEDCAP, the state of Florida and the Veteran’s Administration.
The FEDCAP Group will use a milestone-driven approach that has proven successful in their service to over 250,000 worldwide in educational, social and employment services. A change is coming for Veterans living and Florida. FEDCAP invites all community organizations committed to positive change “Creating Opportunities and Improving the Lives of People with Barriers to Economic Well-Being."
The $5 Million for 5000 Veterans grant has already been dispersed and Community Partners are encouraged to send inquiries by June 1st.

Post: After completing the activity, post your Press Release and post responses to the following questions and be prepared to discuss your responses in class.
What is the precise message you tried to communicate?
Community Organizations need to jump on the opportunity to partner with FEDCAP who has $5 Million to Serve 5000 Veterans
What were the factors you considered while crafting your message?
Audience, Time/Length of message, Retaining message.
Was it difficult to craft the message? Why or why not?
Yes, it was difficult because with what I had there were so many questions I had that I felt needed to be answered. (e.g., Dates, Specific Target Community Based Agencies, etc.). I also feel my delivery could be better. In addition, I was not certain my format was the most effective.
What are the risks in a poorly crafted press release? What are the benefits of a well-crafted press release?
The risks are that the inaccurate information could be disseminated, or a negative response produced due to its delivery. Also, most importantly, the intention of the release may not be fulfilled whether it is to inform, inspire, or a call to action.
